Kiren Rijiju Lost Ministry Of Defense

 New Delhi: Following his unexpected removal as the Union Law Minister, Kiren Rijiju addressed the matter, asserting that the decision was part of the government's strategic vision and not intended as a punitive measure. He clarified that it was Prime Minister Modi's vision that led to his shift to the Ministry of Earth.

During his official takeover of the new ministry, Mr. Rijiju declined to engage in political discussions, specifically refusing to comment on any previous run-ins with the judiciary. He emphasized that the day was not appropriate for such discussions and preferred to focus on his new responsibilities.

The former Law Minister's statement sought to highlight the government's planned approach to ministry assignments while also maintaining a dignified stance regarding any legal controversies.

In response to inquiries about his previous tenure as the Law Minister, Mr. Rijiju firmly asserted that those questions were no longer relevant. He urged reporters not to dwell on past matters, as his focus now lies on the future and the responsibilities assigned to him by the Prime Minister.

"Please refrain from asking questions related to my previous ministry, as they hold no relevance at this point. I am committed to working diligently and responsibly, taking on new responsibilities as bestowed upon me by the Prime Minister," Mr. Rijiju stated. His statement indicated a clear intention to move forward and concentrate on his current role, rather than dwelling on the past.

Amidst the backdrop of the upcoming crucial Lok Sabha elections, Arjun Ram Meghwal has been appointed as the new Law Minister, marking a significant change in the position. It is noteworthy that the government and the Supreme Court have often found themselves at odds regarding the appointment of judges, leading to contentious exchanges between Mr. Rijiju and the Chief Justice of India.

The conflict reached its peak when Mr. Rijiju made a remark deeming the collegium system, where judges appoint other judges to higher courts, as "alien" to the Constitution. This statement stirred controversy and was followed by a letter he addressed to Chief Justice Chandrachud in January, advocating for the inclusion of government nominees in the collegium system.

In March, Mr. Rijiju's comment on "retired activist judges trying to make the judiciary play the role of an opposition party" further fueled the already heated discussions. The statement triggered a backlash, raising concerns about the delicate balance between the judiciary and the government.
