PM Modi’s Sattire on Opposition Party, “East India Company, Indian Mujahideen”
According to BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, the Prime Minister expressed his astonishment at the lack of direction in the opposition during the weekly meeting of the BJP parliamentary party.
Furthermore, PM Modi took a swipe at the opposition's chosen name for their coalition, INDIA, which stands for Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance. This name was adopted during a recent meeting of 26 parties in Bengaluru to strategize for the upcoming 2024 national election.
Mr. Prasad quoted the Prime Minister, stating that people cannot be deceived merely by the use of the country's name.
Amidst a standoff in parliament over the Manipur crisis and continuous disruptions due to the opposition's demands for a statement from PM Modi on various issues, including a disturbing viral video of two women being assaulted by a mob, the Prime Minister delivered sharp remarks.
Describing the opposition as "defeated, tired, and hopeless," PM Modi accused them of having a sole agenda - opposing him. According to reports, he remarked that the conduct of the opposition clearly indicated their decision to remain in the opposition, regardless of the circumstances.
Confident in the support of the people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his belief that the BJP would secure an easy victory in the 2024 polls.
However, the ongoing row over the Manipur crisis has caused a significant disruption to the government's legislative agenda in parliament. Since the monsoon session commenced last Thursday, both houses of parliament have faced repeated adjournments with minimal progress on crucial legislation. The situation arose a day after the distressing Manipur horror video came to light, adding to the challenges faced by the government in conducting parliamentary business.
In his pre-session speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed profound anguish and anger over the recent events. He assured the nation that those responsible for the incident in Manipur would not escape justice, and strict action would be taken in accordance with the law. He emphasized that the unforgivable nature of what happened to the daughters of Manipur must be addressed seriously.
Meanwhile, the opposition, appearing for the first time as the "INDIA" coalition, demanded a comprehensive statement from the Prime Minister in both houses of parliament. On the other hand, the government, while offering a discussion on the Manipur issue in both houses, accused the opposition of intentionally obstructing legislation through their protests. This political standoff has been hindering the progress of key legislative matters during the ongoing session.
