Taking to Twitter in Hindi, the Prime Minister emphasized that Kargil Vijay Diwas serves as a poignant reminder of the extraordinary valor exhibited by India's unmatched warriors, who will forever remain a profound source of inspiration for the entire nation.

Simultaneously, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid solemn homage to the heroes of the Kargil war by laying a wreath at the revered Dras war memorial. The ceremony served as a testament to the nation's gratitude for the bravery and sacrifices made by the brave soldiers during the conflict.

Kargil Vijay Diwas stands as a momentous occasion to honor the indomitable spirit of those who defended the nation's borders with unwavering determination, securing a triumphant outcome and upholding the glory of India.

According to PTI's report, a two-day commemoration event to observe Vijay Diwas and honor the sacrifice of the 559 soldiers who bravely fought in the 1999 Kargil war commenced with a solemn ceremony on Tuesday. At the Lamochen viewpoint, war heroes, along with the families of the fallen soldiers, gathered to pay heartfelt tribute to the brave souls who laid down their lives for the nation. The event served as a poignant reminder of their courage and dedication in defending our country's borders, and it allowed everyone present to express their gratitude and respect for their indomitable spirit.

With the presence of the Northern Army Commander, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, as the chief guest, the commemoration event for Vijay Diwas commenced on a solemn note. The gathering was further honored by the presence of the esteemed Army Chief, General Manoj Pande. Following the ceremony, a cultural program was held, adding a touch of reverence and remembrance to the occasion. The event provided an opportunity to pay tribute to the valorous soldiers who fought in the 1999 Kargil war and served as a poignant reminder of their selfless sacrifice for the nation.

In the evening, a deeply moving ceremony took place at the Kargil War Memorial, where heartfelt tributes were paid to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during 'Operation Vijay.' The event was attended by the esteemed Army Chief, General Manoj Pande, alongside numerous present and former top army officers.

In a touching and symbolic gesture, 559 lamps were lit at the Veer Bhoomi, each representing a courageous soldier who laid down their life for the nation during the Kargil war.

As part of the commemoration, Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande took the time to personally interact with veterans, 'Veer Naris' (widows of martyrs), gallantry award recipients, and locals in the region of Drass, Ladakh. In these heartfelt interactions, he conveyed his gratitude and appreciation on the eve of the 24th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, recognizing the indomitable spirit and sacrifices made by the soldiers and their families.

On July 26, 1999, the Indian Army officially declared the successful conclusion of "Operation Vijay," announcing a hard-fought victory after an arduous three-month-long battle at the treacherous heights of Kargil, including locations like Tololing and Tiger Hill. The commemorative events served as a poignant reminder of the courage and determination displayed by the Indian soldiers during that historic chapter in the nation's history.
